VERGEZ BLANCHARD
French Forged Tools Since 1823
Founded in Paris in 1823 by master cutler Louis René Blanchard. In 1910, Louis Hippolyte Simonin, known as “Blanchard”, acquired the Vergez company, formally establishing the Vergez Blanchard trademark, which remains highly regarded by professional craftsmen.
Vergez Blanchard has been producing professional hand tools for nearly two centuries. What began as a small workshop has grown into one of the most respected names in leathercraft, upholstery, bookbinding, slate roofing, and rubber work, without ever losing sight of its origins.
Today, every Vergez Blanchard tool is still produced in France, in their forge and workshops in Romilly-sur-Andelle, Normandy.
We are proud to be an authorised UK distributor of Vergez Blanchard tools.
Our selection is built around regular restocks direct from Blanchard in France.
If there is a Blanchard tool you are looking for and don’t currently see on our website, feel free to contact us, we’re happy to include additional items in our next regular restock.

Forged, Not Cast
Where much of today’s industry relies on cast steel for efficiency and cost, Blanchard has deliberately chosen the forge.
Forging allows the steel’s internal structure to remain dense, strong, and responsive. It results in tools that hold an edge longer, resist fatigue, and perform consistently under hand pressure, qualities that simply cannot be replicated with cast metal.
This commitment to forging is slower, more labour-intensive, and more costly. It is also the reason Blanchard tools are trusted by professionals as well as the biggest names in the industry, and valued for a lifetime.
