Hot Foil Stamping FAQs
We are frequently asked this question by customers, so we have included it here to provide a clear answer and avoid any confusion. The answer is no. MAXITA is a brand of Chongqing Zaoju Technology Co., Ltd., a tool manufacturer based in Chongqing, China. We have confirmed directly with Zaoju that the company currently does not operate an English-language official international website or B2C online store. MAXITA currently works directly with distributors and resellers for international sales, while also serving customers within China. The websites 'themaxita' and 'maxitaofficial' are independently operated reseller websites and are not the official international website of Maxita (Chongqing Zaoju Technology Co., Ltd.).MAXITA (Zaoju) has also advised us that it has no current plans to operate an international direct-to-consumer website. Should an official international website be introduced in the future, it is expected to focus primarily on presenting the MAXITA brand and product range rather than operating as a B2C online shop.Customers purchasing MAXITA machines and accessories from Pro Atelier Plus can contact us directly before and after purchase. We remain the point of contact for the MAXITA products we supply, including product advice, technical support, warranty assistance and sourcing replacement components where required.
All MAXITA hot foil stamping machines purchased from Pro Atelier Plus include a 1-year warranty from the date of delivery. The warranty is intended to cover manufacturing defects and faults in mechanical or electrical components arising during normal use. As with standard machinery warranties, it does not cover damage caused by misuse, accidental damage, incorrect operation, unsuitable power supply, unauthorised modification or repair, or normal wear of consumable and wear components.Pro Atelier Plus will remain your point of contact for after-sales support for all MAXITA machines purchased from us. If you experience a problem, need technical advice, or require a replacement component, please contact us directly and we will assist with troubleshooting and liaise with MAXITA where necessary.Replacement parts and components can also be sourced for MAXITA machines, subject to the availability of the relevant part. We can help identify the component required and arrange replacement parts where applicable. Our support does not end when the machine is delivered, we aim to provide ongoing technical and after-sales support throughout the working life of your MAXITA machine.
Yes. All of our custom brass stamps will be made compatible with MAXITA Hot Foil Stamping Machines. An M5 threaded hole is also added to the back of the stamp as standard, allowing it to be used with a suitable manual handle or other compatible stamping equipment where applicable. For use with current MAXITA machines, we recommend keeping the stamp face area within approximately 45 cm² for more even and effective pressure across the design.
Our custom brass stamps and Maxita Type Sets have a 2 mm engraving depth, which is suitable for most leather hot foil stamping and embossing applications, including many grained and exotic leathers. The engraving depth of the brass stamp should not be confused with the depth of the finished impression. The final result also depends on the leather surface, temperature, pressure, dwell time and how well the stamping area is supported, particularly when stamping directly onto finished products rather than flat leather pieces. For heavily textured or pronounced grain leather, you can also use MAXITA Transparent Hot Stamping Film before applying the coloured hot stamping foil. A preliminary press can help flatten and prepare the grain in the stamping area, creating a more even surface for the final foil application. As exotic leathers and surface finishes can vary considerably, we recommend testing the temperature, pressure and dwell time on a sample or inconspicuous area first.
For a custom brass logo stamp intended for use with a MAXITA Hot Foil Stamping Machine, we recommend a maximum stamp face area of approximately 45 cm² to help achieve even and effective pressure across the design. For example:3 × 14 cm = 42 cm²6 × 7 cm = 42 cm²Both sizes are within the recommended area for current MAXITA hot foil stamping machines. We can also manufacture custom brass stamps in larger sizes or for use with other hot stamping and embossing machines. Please send us your artwork together with the required dimensions and details of your intended application or machine, and we will provide a quotation.Artwork RequirementsFor the best engraving result, please provide clear, high-resolution artwork. Vector artwork is preferred whenever available.Suitable file formats include:AIEPSSVGPDFHigh-resolution PNGIf you are unsure whether your logo or artwork is suitable for producing a custom brass stamp or embossing die, simply send the file to us and we can review it before manufacture.
MAXITA hot foil stamping machines are manually operated, so the stamping pressure is controlled by the amount of force applied to the operating handle rather than by a fixed mechanical pressure stop or locking system. The working height is adjustable, allowing the machine to accommodate products of different thicknesses and helping you achieve a more suitable pressing position and lever action for the material being stamped. The height adjustment is made from the top of the machine using an Allen key. Once the correct working height is set, the operator controls the final stamping pressure manually through the lever. For consistent results, we recommend testing the combination of working height, temperature, pressure and dwell time on your material before beginning production.
Each MAXITA brass movable type set is supplied in a standard metal tin case with fitted EVA foam inserts to keep the individual letters, numbers and symbols securely organised. For a more permanent and presentable storage solution, you can also purchase the Maxita Brass Type Set Storage Box, designed for neat organisation, easy access and display of your brass type sets.
Compatibility depends on the font, character size and type dimensions. The standard MAXITA Brass Alphabet & Number Stamp Type Sets are compatible with MAXITA No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 Type Holders, depending on the size selected. The MAXITA Brass Alphabet & Number Stamp Type Set – Font No. 19 uses a different holder configuration. Please refer to the individual product page for the compatible MAXITA holder options. For custom-sized alphabet and number type sets, compatibility should be checked before ordering. Please send us the required type size or specifications, and we can advise which holder is suitable.
Not necessarily. Compatibility depends on the dimensions of the brass type, the construction of your existing type holder and the machine’s mounting system.First, please refer to the FAQ “What are the letter dimensions of the MAXITA brass type sets?” and check the Specifications section on the relevant product page for the uppercase and lowercase type dimensions. If you are still unsure, please send us:Clear photographs or a short video of your existing type holder and mounting systemThe internal dimensions of the holderAny relevant measurements of the mounting or fixing pointsWe can then review the information and advise whether the MAXITA type set is likely to be compatible, or whether a custom type holder may be required.
Not necessarily. Brass die and stamp compatibility depends on the size, shape, thickness and mounting method of the die, as well as the MAXITA holder being used.If you already have brass dies or logo stamps, we recommend checking compatibility before purchasing the machine or holder. You can send us clear photographs and the dimensions of your existing dies, including the overall size, thickness and any mounting holes or fixing features. We can then advise whether they are likely to fit a standard MAXITA holder or whether a different or custom holder may be required.
MAXITA offers three main positioning methods for aligning products before hot foil stamping or embossing:Laser Positioning Guide – Provides a visible crosshair reference to help with initial placement and alignment. The guide is built into the EC-27 and is available as an optional add-on for the EC-17.Positioning Gauge / Alignment Guide – Uses adjustable physical reference points on the working table. Once the gauge is set, you simply place the product against the guides and begin stamping. If you regularly switch between different products, we recommend recording the gauge settings or taking a reference photo so the same setup can be recreated later. Some users also use masking tape on the working table as a simple positioning reference.Customisable Positioning Jig – Creates a dedicated product-shaped insert for repeat production. Once the insert has been prepared for a specific product, the item can be placed back into the same position consistently without having to realign it manually each time. For occasional or varied work, the Laser Positioning Guide or Positioning Gauge is usually the most flexible option. For repeated batches of the same product, the Customisable Positioning Jig provides the most consistent and efficient setup.
Yes. The MAXITA die holder features a wooden handle, allowing the complete holder to be removed more easily while the machine is still hot.Individual heated dies, logo stamps or type can also be changed using suitable heat-resistant tweezers or tools, so it is not normally necessary to wait for the entire machine to cool down between changes. If your worktop is not heat resistant, we recommend using the MAXITA Hot Stamp Holder Rest with Walnut Base. Rather than placing a hot holder directly onto a workbench, cutting mat or other surface, the rest keeps it safely supported while you change type or dies, prepare the next job, or allow the holder to cool.Always use appropriate heat-resistant tools and take care when handling heated metal components.
Yes, but material compatibility is determined primarily by whether the material itself is suitable for hot foil stamping, rather than by the MAXITA machine alone. The MAXITA EC-17 and EC-27 provide the heat and pressure required for hot foil stamping and embossing. Whether a particular material can be successfully stamped depends on factors such as its surface finish, heat resistance and compatibility with the chosen hot stamping foil.BioThane can be hot foil stamped, so it can be used with the MAXITA EC-17 or EC-27 with a suitable die, foil and correctly adjusted temperature, pressure and dwell time. The same principle applies if you would like to stamp other materials. If you are unsure whether a particular material is suitable, we recommend testing a sample first, as different coatings, finishes and material formulations can respond differently to heat and pressure. If required, you can also send us details or a sample of your material and we can advise on suitability or arrange a test.
