Compact precision needle nose pliers designed for secure gripping, fine control and comfortable use across leathercraft, jewellery making and other detailed craft work.

This Stainless Steel Needle Nose Pliers are designed for precision tasks where a secure grip and fine control are required.

Originally developed with hand stitching and leathercraft in mind, the slim jaws are particularly useful for gripping and pulling sewing needles through thick or resistant materials when they become difficult to draw by hand.

Their fine needle-nose profile also makes them a versatile general-purpose craft tool suitable for jewellery making, light wire bending, model making, small-component handling and other detailed workshop tasks.

A distinctive finger ring is built into the handle, allowing the pliers to remain conveniently on your hand while you work.

This is especially useful for tasks where the pliers are needed intermittently. You can move between your main work and the pliers without repeatedly putting the tool down and picking it up again.

A built-in spring mechanism automatically opens the jaws when pressure is released, allowing quicker and more comfortable repeated operation.

Combined with the ergonomically shaped handles, the spring-assisted action helps reduce hand fatigue during longer working sessions.

The pliers are cast from durable 3Cr13 stainless steel and heat-treated to approximately HRC 50. This provides a practical balance of hardness and toughness for repeated workshop and craft use. The entire tool features a stonewashed stainless steel finish, giving the pliers a refined, understated appearance while retaining a practical workshop character.

The pliers can be disassembled for maintenance, allowing individual components to be accessed and replaced when required.

This makes the tool easier to maintain for long-term use.

Jaw Design and Optional Leather Pad DIY

To ensure the jaws can grip needles securely, the pliers are manufactured with an intentional approximately 1 mm tolerance between the jaw faces and at the base of the jaws. This helps compensate for small machining variations and ensures reliable clamping pressure.

When using the pliers to pull hand-stitching needles through leather, you may wish to apply a thin piece of cowhide to the gripping surface. We recommend skiving the leather to approximately 0.3 mm thickness.

The leather layer helps:

  • Reduce direct contact between the serrated jaws and the needle
  • Minimise scratching or marking of hand-stitching needles
  • Increase friction for a more secure grip when pulling

This is optional and is mainly recommended for users who regularly use the pliers for hand stitching and want additional protection for their needles.
