This larger and heavy iron is great for smoothing edges and surfaces, especially useful for thicker leather. It can create a cleaner burnished edge for vegetable-tanned leather.
 
With its XXL format and two rounded sides, the stainless steel heating paddle is ideal for preparing the edge of the leather before applying colour to thick pieces of leather.
The paddle should always be used at an angle to the edge of the leather, never flat, to ensure that all the leather fibres are burnt.
Sometimes also called a ‘roller’, it is used to remove filaments and glue residues at a very high temperature (heating marks at 7 or 8). This preparatory work is essential to obtain the smoothest possible edge on thick leather.
This iron is recommended to use with a 29 mm diameter wooden or cork handle for comfort and ease of use.
